About
Therapy with Robin
My passion and gift to the world is to offer safe and supportive spaces for those who feel called to focus on their mental health and wellbeing. I believe that we all have innate wisdom inside of us, but sometimes we don't know how to access it or fully believe it. That is why, sometimes, we need a therapist to help us feel safe enough to take that journey inward, and to feel empowered to trust our inner knowing. Together, we can explore and integrate new possibilities, new perspectives, and new ways of being!

What to Expect
Therapy tailored to you
Person-Centred
This is your journey, and as such, you are in the driver's seat. You get to choose where we go, and with me as a compassionate guide in the passenger seat, we can collaboratively explore options on how to get there. I may present to you a buffet, where you can take what resonates with you, and leave what doesn't. (And yes, I use a lot of analogies and metaphors)
Holistic
I believe in an approach that addresses not only the mind, body, heart and soul, but also the social, cultural, political, economic, and environmental factors involved in our experiences, taking into account the interconnected nature of our being and the complexities of the world we live in.
Integrative & Eclectic
I incorporate aspects from various therapeutic approaches, depending on what fits for you. This can include Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Approaches.
Personal
I believe in the importance of a therapeutic relationship built on trust, safety, and connection. Thus, I weave together teachings from my own personal lived experiences along with my formal education and training in psychology, social sciences, neuroscience, and philosophy.
About
Unfolding Lotus
This name is symbolic in many ways... The lotus flower represents the process of growing from the deepest darkest muck. Oftentimes in life, we find ourselves in the muck and the mud, and we think "how the heck am I going to get out of this darkness?"
Well, my dear, you are just like the lotus. You have it in you. Sometimes we just need a little support and compassionate guidance to remind us how strong and capable we really are.
“The lotus flower is a reminder of the beauty that comes
from change, the magic that a new beginning brings, and
the seed of potential that’s buried in the most unlikely places.”

My Experience
Before I pursued my Masters in Counselling Psychology, I did my undergrad in Social Work, so I believe this helps me offer both sides of understanding mental health through not only a psychological lens but also a social lens. My approach to this work is very much informed by social justice and anti-oppressive frameworks, as I understand that everyone’s personal experiences are impacted by the socio-political climate we live in.
And before I began my career as a psychotherapist, I worked with a variety of populations as a helping professional, including children and youth, older adults and senior citizens, and folks with developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities. These experiences very much inform my approach to this work as well as my approach to life. Working with people at different stages of life showed the importance of connection, safety, trust, and other basic human needs across all stages of life. Major elements of these roles involved support with activities of daily living, self care and healthy living, recreational activities, skill-building, and advocacy.
I also love learning, so I am constantly engaging in continued education and professional growth and development to expand my work to stay up to date with the best ways to approach therapy.
